Now that school has begun or it will soon begin (depending on your state), please make sure that your child understands how important school is by your attitude, by what you say, and by how you structure their school day (before and after school).
Structuring their school day for when they get up in the morning is very important. Questions to think about: Is there enough time…
…to get ready?
…to eat breakfast?
…to make sure your child has all of the belongings they need for that day?
…are they being rushed?
How about when they come home from school which is equally as important. Questions to think about: Do they…
…have a snack?
…start their homework?
…discuss their proud school moments, their teachers, their friends, what they learned in school, anything funny or upsetting that happened, etc.
Their school schedule is a message you are sending to your child about school and your expectations for them while they are in school. You need to figure out what works best for your child and make those decisions early so you can start a routine for them that is consistent.
It is extremely important that you begin the year the right way and make sure your child knows their expectations from day one!

Thankyou for the information! My little munchkin will be starting school in September and we already take her teddies she calls ‘the kids’ and ‘drop them off’ at school (in my bedroom) in the morning and then ‘pick them up’ in the afternoon! She is very excited for when it’s her turn 😊x

I agree with what you say but not necessarily with your fervour as you say it. Seems that there should be some flexibility to this. Not all children will be amenable to this approach?

True, but the parent needs to figure out what that approach should be; what works best for their child.
Thank you so much for your comments! I truly appreciate it.
